This five-year program is conceived as a center for advanced mentorship and research incubation, formulated to position a new generation of scientific professionals at the forefront of the transition toward a circular economy for plastics. Predicated on an extensive career of material expertise, the role of the Principal Investigator, contingent upon the conferral of the PM Professorship, will be the provision of direct consultation and expert guidance to a designated team of junior faculty members and students. The overarching vision is the creation of a holistic, integrated, and scalable blueprint for a future in which plastic waste is effectively eliminated and the intrinsic value of plastic as a material is perpetually retained within the economic cycle [1]. The project's trajectory will be steered from endeavors of a purely theoretical nature and directed toward the tangible development of novel techniques, founded upon an ethos of mentorship and collaborative, empirical discovery.
