Project Overview

Flexible electronics is gaining popularity due to its potential applications in circuits, sensors, human health monitoring, e-textile, and wearable devices. Its low-temperature processing, ease of integration, low-cost fabrication, and compatibility with rigid and flexible substrates like cloth, paper, and plastic skin make it a promising research area. The performance of solution-processed flexible devices depends on factors such as substrate properties, semiconductor material, dielectric, device structure, and semiconductor dielectric interface. E-textiles have been explored for their applications in sensing, health monitoring, and energy harvesting. Incorporating flexible electronic devices with multiple functionalities in e-textile can offer significant advantages for smart wearable applications. This proposal aims to demonstrate multifunctional flexible devices, such as high-performance transistors and capacitors, for eco-sustainable e-textile applications. These devices will include circuit applications and sensing capabilities for humidity, temperature, pressure, touch, light, and radiation. Eco-friendly natural dielectrics, such as gelatin, albumen, P(VDF-TrFE), and PAA, will be used for sensing capabilities. Organic semiconductors and inorganic oxide semiconductors will be used in suitable cases. Transistors with pristine gelatin gate dielectric and high-k inorganic dielectrics have shown capabilities in humidity sensors, real-time breath analysis, UV and visible light detection, and resistive load inverters. These devices will be fabricated on textile substrates prepared by eco-sustainable methods, making them an attractive choice for smart e-textile applications.
