Project Overview

Objective: Design and development of low RI coated octagonal shaped Er-Yb co-doped cladding pump optical fibre; Design and development of mid high power amplifier (EDFA) module (power level: 1.0-5.0 Watt) for CATV, free space communications and FTTH applications.

Summary: The project will focus about design and develop low RI coated octagonal shaped Er+Yb codoped cladding pump fiber with proper design and development of a mid power (1.0 – 5.0 W) amplifier (EDFA) module using these fibers by our Industrial partner M/s. SFO Technologies Pvt Ltd., Cochin for CATV, free space communications and FTTH applications. The proposed mid power EDFA module is of great potential for CATV and free space communication considering the high demand related to Bharat Net project being implemented by different State Governments where huge numbers of high power EDFAs are required.
