Project Overview
Gravity waves play a major role in determining thermal structure, mean circulation and distribution of chemical constituents of the atmosphere. In the middle atmosphere, the basic processes include photochemical, dynamical and radiative processes. This study aims to understand the role of photochemical heating on the middle atmospheric gravity waves. Using a linear diabatic gravity wave model, whether photochemistry damps or destabilizes or enhances gravity waves can be understood. The temperature dependency can also be studied.
