Project Overview

The present study suggests that administration of A. ferruginea extract could inhibit pulmonary metastasis induced by B16F-10 melanoma cells by regulating proinflammatory cytokines and inhibit the activation and nuclear translocation of NF-kB p50 and p65 subunits. Therefore, A. ferruginea extract may be used as therapeutic target to inhibit pulmonary metastasis. Furthermore, studies on angiogenesis induced by B16F-10 melanoma cells revealed that A. ferruginea extract could inhibit tumor specific neovascularization by reducing the production of VEGF as well as proinflammatory cytokines. Further investigations on understanding the molecular mechanisms involved in the anti-metastatic and anti-angiogenesis effect of A. ferruginea extract and its phytoconstituents will guide further to combat melanoma with effective treatment strategy. The present study should lead to additional studies to unravel the targeted pathways underlying this anti-cancer effect
