Project Overview

It is generally accepted that good sperm motility is a central component of normal male fertility. Individuals with poorly motile or immotile sperm are typically infertile.Poor sperm motility remains predominantly a clinical sign of infertility, rather than a true diagnosis of the cause of infertility. Hence, we proposed to identify all the protein molecules that differ in the normal and non-motile conditions of spermatozoa using proteomics methods. We also propose to identify any protein molecule that could attenuate the sperm motility. Eventually, poor sperm motility will be understood in molecular terms. The condition may be treatable or even cured by, for example, stimulating relevant signalling pathways or by gene therapy, rather than by simply bypassing it with ICSI. We found that in case of non-motile seminal plasma.
