About
In this project, novel
polymeric gels capable of complexing heavy metal ions from aqueous solution are being developed. We have already developed a two classes of polymeric gels which show remarkable swelling properties in water. These gels have been found to complex commonly found heavy metal ions in waste water including copper, chromium, iron, cobalt, cadmium, mercury, lead etc. very efficiently. In fact, the complexation efficiency of our materials are found to be far superior to what is available commercially in the market. We are in the process of filing a patent on our work.
