Project Overview

Objective: 1. Field trials data of Anacardic acid for early maturity stage in cotton. 2. CIB registration of Anacardic acid as a growth promoting phyto-formulation.

Summary: India tops the world in having largest area under cotton cultivation. However, the yield of cotton in India is destitute being 500 Kg/ha compared to the country like Brazil which has cotton yield about 2000 Kg/ha. Thus, innovative technologies are needed to improve yield in India which will be a direct benefit to the farmer. We developed a formulation which improve cotton yield. Multi-location trials in different cotton growing states showed 10-15% increase in yield of popular cotton hybrids. Our formulation also brings earliness in boll bursting. Our formulation work by augmenting actions of phytohormones involved in cotton boll development. The review committee has recommended (i) the CIB registration of molecule, and (ii) data on early maturity. Based on these recommendations, the present FTT proposal has been formulated.
