Project Overview
Glaucoma is a leading cause of blindness worldwide with Primary Open Angle Glaucoma (POAG) as the predominant form. It has been suggested that the age and disease-related decrease of Trabecular Meshwork (TM) cells, abnormal accumulation of ECM materials, and the appearance of the cross-linked actin networks in the TM cells contribute to an increased resistance of the AH outflow and subsequent increase of Intraocular Pressure (IOP). Recently confirmed the presence of stem cells in native TM cells by two parameter analysis–high expression of ABCG2 with high N/C ratio.
