About
Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) is a dreaded transboundary animal disease causing an estimated economic loss of about Rs. 13,000 crores per year. It has been reported that non-genetic host factors such as the early stage of lactation and younger age result in decreased immune response in the crossbred cow. As a general precaution, late gestation cows are exempted from vaccination for fear of abortion/premature birth. This research aims to determine the quantitative immune response of the dam and newborn calf to FMD vaccination.
