About
The project aims to create a wound healing bandage that can both be antibacterial and detect early-stage infections. The cotton fabric will be surface derivatized to bring quaternary ammonium moieties, allowing for optimized antibacterial efficacy. The fabric will also be used to detect an intracellular enzyme, such as Chlorophenol Red-β-D-galactopyranoside (CPRG), which changes color in the presence of β-galactosidase. The fabric will be superimposed over the wound, with the antibacterial layer in direct contact with the wound and the indicator layer over it.
