About
Alzheimer's disease is a multifactorial disease causing neurodegeneration. FDA-approved drugs, such as amyloid, cholinesterase, and NMDAR inhibitors, provide symptomatic relief but have side effects. Botanical preparations, like flavonoids, alkaloids, and terpenoids, have less side effects and potency in attenuating neurodegeneration. Targeting inflammation in brain cells is crucial for AD management. A proposed study will screen the synergistic combination of these compounds for their protective properties against tau phosphorylation and inflammation.
