About
The White-bellied heron Ardea insignis is critically endangered in Asia, with a global population of less than 60 individuals. The species has lost 59% of its prime habitats in the last century, affecting its long-term survival. The species' stronghold in Namdapha Tiger Reserve, located in Arunachal Pradesh, Myanmar, is at risk of being moved north or east if disturbed. Further research is needed to understand its ecology and behavior.
