About
Myocardial Infarction (MI) is the leading cause of death in cardiovascular diseases, causing cardiac cell death, loss of functionality, damaged blood vessels, and inflammation. Current treatments are temporary and cannot influence cellular processes like apoptosis, proliferation, inflammation, and vascularization. A multifaceted therapy, including gene therapy, is needed to address MI. MiRNAs play a role in cardiovascular development and disease, but clinical translation is challenging due to multiple target genes and low uptake. Recently, nanoparticles (NPs) have been synthesized to prevent hypoxia/reperfusion-induced apoptosis and induce proliferation.
