Project Overview

This project aims to identify compounds that disrupt androgen receptor AR-signaling, which is the standard treatment for prostate cancer. By targeting specific proteins, such as AKR1C and PIM1 isoforms, the efficacy of cancer treatments may be improved. The project also suggests that AR-signaling drugs could be repurposed for COVID-19 treatment, as AR regulates the serine protease TMNPRSS2 in various tissues, including the lungs. This could potentially reduce the risk of SARS-CoV2 infection in men receiving androgen deprivation therapy.
