Project Overview

Satellite data is enabling new applications in agriculture and economic development, including crop and soil health. However, effective use requires blending technical knowledge with understanding their influence on risk-reduction programs. Training is needed to transfer tested methodologies and expose users to current state-of-the-art technology. India, an agrarian country, needs large trained manpower on mapping, geoinformatics, and spatial database generation. A two-week Level-2 Training program is planned to address key agriculture issues in Punjab using remote sensing and GIS. The program aims to address key agriculture issues, assess spatiotemporal dynamics, educate government officers, and advance public awareness. Participants will learn remote sensing-based assessments, land and soil health assessments, and apply GIS/remote sensing in agricultural hazards, vulnerability, and risk assessment.
