Project Overview

The Internet has seen a significant rise in usage in India, with around 690 million smartphone users, including millions of children aged 10-18. However, there is a significant lack of awareness of cybersecurity risks among the public, particularly children from low-income and rural families. The proposed project aims to promote cybersecurity awareness in children through the design and development of a web and mobile-based game named Trinetra. The project aims to conduct a research study to understand common cybersecurity risks among children, design storylines/themes for common internet activities, design a multi-level game targeting different cybersecurity attacks, field deploy the game in RGUKT, develop an assessment mechanism to evaluate its usefulness, learning, and usability, and disseminate the game on web and mobile platforms for wider usage in the public domain. The project will involve three phases: literature review, research study, data collection, design and development of the game, and evaluation. The goal is to educate children about prevalent malpractices in the cyber world and allow them to take relevant in-game actions, with rewards for correct actions.
