Project Overview
Araku Valley, a tourist destination in Andhra Pradesh, is home to tribal communities known for their handicrafts, including bamboo crafts, wood carvings, and tribal jewelry. These traditional crafts are popular among tourists and collectors. However, many women, particularly those in rural areas, struggle to find stable, income-generating work. The district has three polytechnic colleges and three Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), which are attracting girls with technical knowledge. By combining traditional bamboo craftsmanship with modern 3D printing, these women can create customized products that appeal to a wider market. The project aims to contribute to environmental conservation and livelihood generation for women, and aligns with the government's "one district one product" scheme.
