About
This project aims to synthesize polypyridine-type ligands incorporating multiple stimuli-responsive units, synthesize mononuclear, homo-, and hetero di/polynuclear complexes of d6 platinum metals, and characterize them using standard analytical techniques. The ligands and their metal complexes will be thoroughly investigated for photophysical properties, redox behavior, and inter-component energy and electron transfer. The optoelectronic properties of the complexes will be investigated using multiple optical channels and spectroscopic techniques under various external stimuli. The project aims to exploit the sensing and switching behavior of the complexes for designing stimuli-responsive photochemical molecular switches for various sensing applications, such as anion transport and purification, and the development of functional optoelectronic materials. The project is divided into two parts: synthesis and characterization, and development of sensor and switch. The ultimate goal is to exploit the multi-stimuli responsive switching behavior of the complexes for the design of functional optoelectronic devices.
