About
This study aims to explore the application of enzyme immobilized on metal organic frameworks (MOFs) as an alternative to chemical-based tanning in leather processing. MOFs, which are porous crystalline structures with metal cations and multidentate organic linkers, are used as solid supports for enzyme immobilization. The enzymes, protease and lipase, will be immobilized on MOFs based on zinc, zirconium, and titanium as metal centers and dicarboxylate aromatic ligands as linkers. The prepared MOFs and enzyme immobilized MOFs will be characterized using various techniques, and their recycling efficiency will be analyzed. The study aims to provide a sustainable approach to leather tanning and enhance the efficiency of leather processing.
