Project Overview

The study aims to investigate the impact of maternal gestational methyl donor deficiency on the reproductive development and fertility of F1 offspring and the effect of this deficiency on epigenetic modifications in primordial germ cells of F1 embryos. The animals will be kept on a control diet or a 40 micronutrient deficient diet, with the latter containing 40 deficient levels of each micronutrient. The effects of micronutrition deficiency on F1 female offspring's sexual development and maturation will be studied, as well as the effects on F1 male offspring's sexual development and maturation. Fertility assessment will be performed on postnatal day 60, and the fetal gonads will be isolated and analyzed for their methylation status. The study also aims to study the effect of maternal gestational methyl donor deficiency on epigenetic modifications in primordial germ cells of F1 embryos. The animal experiments will be conducted in an ICMR-NIRRH Experimental Animal Facility, with ethical approval from the ICMR-NIRRH institutional animal ethics committee.
