Sikkim State Council of Science Technology is an autonomous non-profit making scientific organization under the aegis of Department of Science Technology Climate Change, Government of Sikkim. The Council was constituted in 1996 to advise the State Govt. on policies and measures for promoting Science Technology in the State and to implement the policies and plans of the State Govt. more effectively. Other than that, Sikkim State Council of Science Technology has a wide mandate including poverty elevation and entrepreneurship development among many other RD activities. The council has also been involved in various extension program on promotion of scientific technology in areas such as biotechnology, Climate change adaptation, transfer of appropriate technology for livelihood sustainability. The council has also worked on the promotion of scientific awareness among the masses and women and other under privilege marginal farmers through Research and Development.
