About

Several studies on Indian Ocean based on different data, time period and parameter has been carried out but, there have been fewer studies based on SWH. This study assesses the SWH pattern over Indian Ocean based on CMIP5 historical as well as future scenarios. RCP2.6, RCP4.5 and RCP8.5. Analyzing the unexpected seasonal (DJF and JJA) as well as annual variation in Indian monsoon as majority of our farming production still relies upon monsoon. Investigate the factors that are responsible for the continued warming of Indian Ocean as well as future state of the Indian Ocean through RCP2.6, RCP4.5 and RCP8.5 scenario

Outcome / Output

The main objective for this study is to analyze the influence of ENSO, PDO and IOD over the extreme SWH, wind speed and SLP gradients in Indian Ocean during the December-February (DJF) and June–August (JJA) seasons for ERA-interim (1979-2014) and ERA20C(1950-2010) reanalysis datasets., Moreover, the region with 1% and 5% significance for mean and extreme SWH, wind speed and SLP gradient will also be analyzed for the same period so that regions with extreme wave climate and wind speed will be identified., The linear Regression and correlation pattern of seasonal mean and extreme SWH, wind speed and SLP gradient onto climate variability modes as ENSO, PDO and IOD will also be discussed for ERA-Interim and ERA20 reanalysis data.
