About

The study aims to characterize the mantle and its evolution during the Archean-Proterozoic to understand early earth geodynamic conditions. The crust of Early Earth formed due to partial melting of the mantle, and Proterozoic mafic magmatism, represented by voluminous dyke swarms and sills, presents significant temporal and chemical constraints on the development of the lithospheric mantle. These swarms possess minerals like baddeleyite, yielding high-precision Pb-Pb geochronology and retaining pristine isotopic, geochemical, and paleomagnetic signatures. Understanding these dyke swarms will improve our knowledge of early mantle evolution and shed light on early earth geodynamics. The Dharwar Craton (DC) and the Bastar Craton (BC) are natural laboratories to study the mantle's nature and evolution through the Proterozoic. The objectives include providing new precise age, isotopic, and geochemical constraints for less known dyke swarms, characterizing mafic dykes, distinguishing and quantifying crust-mantle interactions, and understanding the evolution of paleotectonic conditions of dyke emplacement. Field studies will be conducted to understand geology, field relationships, and sampling. The results will be published in international journals and presented at national or international conferences.
