Project Overview

Composite materials, particularly fiber metal laminates (FMLs), have gained popularity in the aerospace and automobile industries due to their improved impact performance. However, FMLs have weak interlaminar strength, making them susceptible to dynamic loads. The proposed project aims to develop novel hybrid FML or fillers to improve their strength and resistance to environmental factors like high temperature, humidity, and lightning. The project will use three types of face sheets, al, Ti, and Mg alloys, and stack them using carbon nanofillers. The composite material will be used for stiffened panels, and specimens will be tested under compression loads to estimate buckling strength. High cyclic fatigue tests will be conducted at high temperatures, and finite element analysis will be conducted. The best hybrid FML with additives will be proposed for high-temperature applications.
