About

spray interaction is a crucial aspect of industrial applications such as furnaces, internal combustion engines, and rocket engines. It involves collisions between droplets, which change their velocity and size. Research has mainly focused on binary droplet collisions, but understanding the consequences of droplet collision on droplet dispersion in sprays is still lacking. spray interaction studies under supercritical conditions, relevant to applications like rocket engines, are rare. In liquid propellant rocket engines, numerous injectors are arranged on a plate called the shower head or injector plate. sprays generated from these injector elements interact to produce the necessary oxidiser-propellant mixture, which undergoes combustion in the thrust chamber. This interaction affects the distribution or mixing of oxidizer or propellant, evaporation rate of liquid components, combustion, and heat release within the thrust chamber. This work aims to study the interaction between Gas Centred swirl Coaxial (GCsC) injectors in semi-cryo rocket engines under super-critical and non-reacting conditions using optical techniques. Various optical diagnostics will be employed to study atomization and spray characteristics qualitatively and quantitatively. This knowledge will help establish or identify the relationship or contribution of spray interaction parameters to mixing and evaporation, as well as model the spray process.
