About
Around 20% of diabetic patients experience poor wound healing, increasing the risk of skin malfunction, infection, and amputation. High oxidative stress and low antioxidant ability contribute to delayed wound healing, making treatment more expensive and putting pressure on patients and healthcare centers. A cost-effective and biocompatible wound dressing is needed to improve wound healing. Hydrogels, 3D polymeric materials, are widely used due to their cost-effectiveness, biocompatibility, and non-toxicity. Chitosan and polyvinyl alcohol are popular biopolymers for hydrogel synthesis. Nanoparticles (NPs) are also being explored for wound dressing due to their chemical stability, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antibacterial activities. MgO NPs are well-suited for wound treatment due to their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and radical scavenging activities. Cs or PVA@MgO nanohydrogel is an innovative wound dressing agent that reduces wound infections without antibiotics. Epsilon-poly-L-lysine (EPL) is a novel approach to produce stable, injectable, self-healing, and antimicrobial Cs or PVA@MgO-EPL hydrogel for improved diabetic wound treatment. The research aims to develop biocompatible and cost-effective wound dressing materials that retain hydration for tissue regeneration.
