Project Overview
The study aims to revisit the understanding of structure-photophysics correlation in Near Infrared (NIR) emitting materials, particularly in chemistry, biology, and material science. The researchers will investigate two specific systems, focusing on the impact of substitution changes on f-f transitions, the crystal-like structure preserved in solution states for Ln3 complexes, and the need for a revisit on f-f transitions. The study will also examine factors affecting energy transfers in electronic energy manifolds in lanthanide ions and ion-containing matrix. The researchers will synthesize lanthanide ion-containing molecular complexes, study their single crystal XRD, and study steady-state NIR photophysics in Indian labs. The study will use a state-of-the-art Femtosecond time-resolved NIR absorption spectrometer with a 512 channel InGaAs array detector. The goal is to modulate NIR emission in commercially available NIR emitting materials by simple chemical structure modifications.
