Research Projects

The project aims to strengthen the Puducherry Climate Cell, a knowledge center in the U.T. of Puducherry, to provide information and knowledge to policy makers, officials, academicians, NGOs/CBOs, students, and the general public. The main objectives include enhancing capacity for scientific research, knowledge management, policy advocacy, and education on climate change, promoting quality research studies on climate change issues specific to the U.T., strengthening the climate change knowledge base, creating strategic knowledge networks and institutional partnerships, assessing climate change vulnerability and risk, providing knowledge and technical support to government departments, building capacities at various levels of government, empowering people, NGOs, CBOs, private players, and increasing awareness on climate change. The project will also increase awareness and behavioral changes among the people through UT vide awareness programs. The project will involve a comprehensive climate change risk assessment study, a web GIS-based tool, and institutional capacity building and research. The project will also involve the creation of a Scientific Advisory Committee, climate change working groups, and scholarships for universities and colleges to conduct region-specific research studies on climate change impacts on various sectors.
