River water bodies are crucial for waste load allocation and water quality management, and climate change is a driving force affecting water quantity and quality. The sensitivity of water quality will be intensified under changes in hydro-meteorological variables and river water quality parameters, such as River Water Temperatures (RWT) and Dissolved Oxygen (DO). The study proposes a modelling framework that integrates multivariate and non-stationarity to study the dependence structure of various hydro-climatological and water quality extreme events. The modelled multivariate dependence structures can be used to map and visualize river water quality stress along river stretches/locations, and can be integrated with Environmental flows modelling as adaptive measures to overcome low water quality stress in response to hydrological climate extremes. The study will focus on various river water quality/quantity measuring stations in Eastern Canada, India, and Canada, considering major river basins with diverse climatological conditions. The proposed work addresses specific questions, such as synthesizing multivariate and non-stationary models, quantifying Eflows requirements, and assessing the impact of climate change signals on riverine thermal and flow environments.
