About
The project aims to develop hybrid technologies for pyrolysis and gasification in waste management and energy recovery. Key objectives include finding the best biomass for conversion into high value-added chemical energy, developing a mathematical model for biomass gasification in a fluidized bed gasifier, and determining a suitable technology from Life Cycle Analysis (LCA). The project will select biomass from tropical and sub-tropical regions of India, Brazil, and Russia, and use solar drying technology to remove moisture content. The project will also develop a 5-kW capacity solar-powered fluidized bed gasifier for syngas production. The results will be shared with Russian and Brazilian teams for further development and lifecycle analysis.
Research on CO2 separation using cellulose hollow fiber membranes is increasing due to their advantages such as higher surface area, lower cost, and mechanical strength. This technology is being developed for the production of liquid fuel using Fisher's Tropsch FT reactor, a carbon-neutral process for transportation. The project aims to scale up and commercialize hybrid biomass gasification and pyrolysis conversion technology under CO2 medium, producing value-added products like pyrolysis fuel, higher alcohol, and activated carbon from waste.
