Project Overview

The project aims to develop a complete prototype model of a segmented electrode-based trapezoidal shape hybrid piezo-magneto elastic VEH in a bistable quartic potential well (BQT) configuration and storage for wideband, high power, and higher efficiency with increased lifetime. The proposed VEH system could provide a self-powered supply solution to wireless sensor node loads, addressing the increasing demand for low-cost, energy-efficient, autonomous sensor systems in future networks like the Green Internet-of-Things, e-Health, and smart cities. The project also aims to improve the reliability and robustness of the HEH for real-time applications. The Internet of Things (IoT) offers numerous benefits but also consumes energy, contributes to toxic pollution, and contributes to E-waste. To reduce these issues, there is a growing interest in alternative power sources, such as vibration-based energy harvesters. Hybrid energy harvesters, such as the proposed enhanced broadband low-frequency hybrid energy harvester (HEH), can provide sustainable alternative energy sources for wireless sensors in IoT, embedded systems, implantable devices, and remote monitoring. The project methodology includes modeling and simulation, design, fabrication, and characterization.
