Project Overview

The study aims to investigate the material properties of steel reinforced concrete (SHCC) under tension and compression to develop constitutive models. It will evaluate the behavior of SHCC structural elements, including beams, deep beams, and flat slabs, under repeated and monotonic shear loads. The research methodology includes an intensive literature review on parameters influencing SHCC's shear behavior, as well as laboratory experiments on fully reinforced SHCC beams, deep beams, and flat slabs elements. The data will be recorded in terms of load versus rotation and load versus deflection for repeated and monotonic loadings. Numerical studies and design models will be developed using the finite element platform, using the damage plasticity model available in ABAQUS. The study will adopt two main failure mechanisms: tensile cracking and compressive crushing. The required damage parameters will be calculated based on the typical tensile and compression stress-strain model for ECC. Drucker-Prager criteria will be used to define material failure using plasticity parameters for the materials. Finally, an incremental displacement-control program will be performed for the analyses of the study. The project budget is Rs. 19.8 Lakhs.
