Project Overview

The INSIDE SAS-CoV-2 network aims to study the genomic characteristics of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in Italy and India, analyze spike gene mutations over time, and define methodological approaches for translating scientific evidence into policy decisions. The network also aims to prioritize SARS-CoV-2 variants based on immune escape mutations for targeted vaccine formulation. The network also promotes bilateral exchange and mobility of health professionals, researchers, and post-graduate students for training and research purposes. The goal is to advance scientific knowledge, translate scientific findings into public health action, and prioritize research activities within the pharmaceutical industries. The Italian and Indian partners in a network of excellence aim to study SARS-CoV-2 genomic characteristics and evolution, translating scientific evidence into policy decisions, guiding mitigation and vaccination strategies, and prioritizing research. The Indian partners include AIIMS, CSIR, THSTI, University of Bari, Palermo University Hospital, and Fondazione Bruno Kessler FBK. They will contribute expertise in genomics, NGS sequencing data, bioinformatics methods, data analysis, and epidemiological modeling. The network aims to translate scientific findings into information for policy decision-making and vaccination strategies.
