Project Overview

The India-Belarus program aims to create nano-structured W-Cu thin films for nuclear and energy applications. The project will focus on forming these films for functional coatings, characterizing surface morphology, optical and electrical properties, evaluating radiation hardness, theoretical correlation with experimental investigations, and evaluating reaction studies with different gas environments. The project aims to strengthen India's position in worldwide research on nuclear, space, and energy materials. Tungsten and tungsten alloys are known for their high density, strength, hardness, excellent thermal conductivity, high-temperature capabilities, and minimal sputtering yield. The Indian team will be submitting a beam-time proposal for ion beam studies, while the Belarus team will investigate phase composition, residual stresses, and tribological properties. The project will also investigate ion irradiation studies for W and W-Cu and RBS studies, and reactivity studies in different environments. The project will also conduct hydrogen and other reactivity studies, with the Indian team participating in ion beam studies and the Belarus team participating in tribological studies and simulation programs.
