Project Overview
The project aims to develop a Zirconia ZrO2 feedstock with optimized properties for precision and small-size bio medical products. It will also design and optimize micro injection moulds for manufacturing ceramic dental brackets and clear orthodontic brackets. The methodology involves mixing zirconia ceramics, grain growth inhibitors, polymeric binders, and organic additives. The research output will include 1-2 patents and 2-3 publications in SCI journals. The commercial value of the developed zirconia-based "Clear" dental brackets is expected to be competitive with metallic braces. The project will involve collaboration between IISc Bangalore, India, and O.V. Roman Powder Metallurgy Institute, Belarus, focusing on manufacturing processes for precision and small-sized products of complex shape from oxide ceramics by injection molding.
