About
The rapid development of integrated, wearable, and flexible electronics has led to a growing demand for miniaturized and on-chip energy storage devices, particularly micro-supercapacitors (MSCs) with high power density and long cycle life. These devices are particularly useful in fields like sensor and biomedical fields, where micro-batteries are frequently replaced due to their short lifespan. The 3D structured electrode offers higher power density and good rate capability, making it more practical. However, two-dimensional planar structured MSCs have limitations, such as low conductivity pathways and surface area scarification. This research proposal aims to fabricate interdigitated high energy density micro-supercapacitor devices based on three-dimensional 3D architecture. The interdigitated 3D electrode architecture pattern will be fabricated using a photolithography process, followed by sputtered deposition of Au-alloy layer. The 3D-NPG electrode will be achieved via a dealloying process using selective etchants, facilitating the loading of more electroactive materials in a footprint area. The proposed structure will be designed sequentially, achieving improved specific capacitances and rate performances through various neutral multivalent electrolytes.
