Distributed systems enable resource sharing and control access, addressing authentication and privacy preservation issues. The proposed DAPS project combines trust management systems and differential privacy mechanisms to create an interdependent system. The project aims to design rules for secure, efficient, and stable distributed multi-agent systems, such as real-time road maps, while ensuring location privacy. Trust management systems (TMS) are proposed to support authentication authorization in distributed systems, using community-based reputations to calculate the trust value of each agent. A locally differential privacy mechanism is proposed, where each node perturbs its reading before sending it to other agents or the fusion center. A lower value of the privacy threshold implies a higher level of privacy. The proposed system consists of three subsystems: I/O, TMS, and privacy. The trust value and privacy parameters can be computed during pre-defined intervals in a static environment, or in real-time during chance encountering of nodes. The work packages include technology scouting and security audit, distributed TMS, and privacy accomplishment. The proposed system aims to maintain trustworthiness information for multiple entities in distributed systems and prevent selfish behaviors in mobile ad hoc networks.
