Project Overview

Geo-spatial data analysis based on advanced machine learning techniques can help solve complex problems in multiple domains and help achieve the Sustainable Development GoalsSDG. However, lack of availability, non-interoperability and non-standard data formats is a huge deterrent in realising these benefits. This has been recognised by the National Geospatial Policy 2022 which envisages efficient access to the fundamental Geospatial Data available with various stakeholders in the country. It further recognizes the need for a Unified Geospatial Interface UGI to enable easy access to the datasets. The proposed project addresses this gap and proposes the development of a Geospatial data exchange GSX based on UGI as a critical piece of national digital infrastructure. In addition, the project proposes that the exchange be integrated with a Spatial Analytics Engine, equipped with advanced spatial processing primitives and services that serve data targeted towards specific needs of geo-spatial data science applications.
