About
The reversal of the Sun's magnetic field and sun-like stars is a mysterious feature of nature. The amplitude of the magnetic field varies each cycle, suggesting a nonlinear interaction between convective plasma and rotation and magnetic field. Most existing solar dynamo models are kinematic, relying on observations and theoretical models. A proposed project aims to develop a 3D non-kinematic solar dynamo model based on the magnetohydrodynamics model, solving flow and thermodynamic perturbations and using mean flows from observations. This model will be used to study solar and stellar magnetic cycles.
