About

This research aims to synthesize fused heterocycles, such as pyridopyrimidine and pyrrole quinazolinone or pyridoquinazolinone, which are analogous to natural products. The researchers have already prepared pyridopyrimidine/pyrroloquinazoline heterocycles, but there is a high demand for new, easy, operationally simple, one-pot, and environmentally benign synthetic routes. They have designed a scheme using readily available starting materials and a one-pot protocol. The project also focuses on developing ionic heterocycles, which are easily soluble in water and highly fluorescent, making their biological study easier. These cationic heterocycles have different roles compared to non-charged heterocycles, and their biological study with CT-DNA and other parameters will be investigated. The primary objectives include developing a general methodology for constructing novel pyridopyrimidine and pyrroloquinazolinone fused polycyclic heterocycles, investigating photophysical properties (UV-fluorescence) of newly synthesized heterocyclic compounds, revealing the biophysical aspects of the interaction of targeted compounds with natural DNAs like E.Coli DNA and calf thymus (CT-DNA), and conducting detailed biological studies on antibacterial, antibiofilm, reactive oxygen species generation, cell viability, and cell imaging.
