Project Overview

The idea of integrated sensing and communications is important for the effective deployment of smart vehicles and intelligent transportation systems. Most of the present research focuses on a joint design of radar and communication systems that require a complete redesign of both the underlying subsystems. Following this approach will be incompatible with legacy hardware as well as the in-place communications and radar systems. Therefore, in this project we plan to focus on the design, analysis and optimization of coexistence based systems that build on existing wireless communications (5G and beyond 5G) and radar standards to realize integrated sensing and communications. Our aim is to minimize the disruption required in legacy hardware and systems.
