About
Friction crush welding (FCW) is a new technique developed by Besler et al. (2016) and used for welding similar as well as dissimilar materials with and without use of filler material. This process consists of welding between two parts through the relative movement between a plate and a rotating tool of a specific type of profile. Currently, a great demand for light, low consumption and low emission structures is satisfied due to the wide use of dissimilar alloys. The use of Aluminium and Magnesium alloys offers a better adaptability of the design and a better strength/weight ratio. This proposal represents the development of mathematical modeling and experimental research to predict the mechanical behavior of aluminum and steel joints in the FCW of sheet metal section. Numerical simulations will be developed as a three-dimensional, explicit non-linear finite element model using ABAQUS based on the Lagrange method to predict the distribution of temperature of Magnesium and Aluminium alloys. In present work experimental and numerical investigation will be carried out to optimize the temperature distribution of sheet metal of Magnesium and aluminum alloy using FCW technique for different speeds of tool and feed rates.
