About
The proposed study aims at development of AIE active chiral/achiral building blocks using pyrazine/perylenebisimide/hexaphenylbenzene as the scaffold. By bringing structural changes in the scaffold/periphery, a relationship will be examined between molecular structure of the building block, its supramolecular packing and its preferred interactions with the guests (metal ions/amino acids) in aqueous media. The external guest (metal ions/chiral guest) induced co-assembly will be examined for the generation of stable chiral co-assembled nanostructures in aqueous media. Another focus of the proposed study is to develop stable supramolecular metallic/bimetallic ensembles as efficient photocatalytic systems for C-C/C-X bond formation reaction. The fine interplay of noncovalent interactions, metallic/bimetallic coordination and preorganization of the building block will be examined to enhance the stability and efficiency of the nanostructures in aqueous media.
