About
The proposed research intends to generate the delivery carries of a biocompatible and biodegradable polymer, PCL. Facile and energy efficient route, emulsion templating, renowned for producing the polyHIPEs will be merged with microfluidic technique to design and develop the promising porous carriers for delivery of therapeutics and drugs. The fusion of emulsion templates (constituting the ingredients for producing the crosslinked PCL) and microfluidics approach will be first kind of reporting in the scientific domain of for generation of porous carriers with controlled pore porosity. Further, the shape and size of carriers can also be easily tuned through improving the microfluidic parameters. The amalgamation of emulsion templating with microfluidic will facilitate generation of carriers of controlled porosity with dimeter in micron to millimeter range and shape from spherical to millimeter size rods. The crosslinked PCL based carriers will be potentially useful for controlled delivery of drugs and therapeutics. Additionally, these can also be used as tissue engineering scaffolds (biomedical in-vivo implants) through in-vitro cell growth, thus opening the other paradigm of the aimed crosslinked PCL based porous carriers to be developed.
