This project aims to explore the effects of resource limitations on agents expressing opinions, a concept that has not been explored in any model for opinion dynamics. The research focuses on two broad themes: resource limitation and resource-dependent inter-agent influences. The first theme focuses on the topics of discussion among agents, which are allocated among finitely many options, leading to a resource penalty on their opinions and the ability to hold arbitrarily large opinions. The second theme focuses on the role of agents in allocating their limited resources among the influences they seek to exert on their neighbors and different topics of discussion. The project propose to analyze the interplay between resources available to agents, the social network, and the number of topics on opinion dynamics. It also seeks to study the conditions under which there is consensus or polarization of opinions, clustering of opinions, or fluctuation of opinions. The project also seeks to study the connections with the underlying game and Nash equilibria of the game. This project seeks to open a new line of research on opinion dynamics, where agents have resource limitations. It could be useful in understanding opinion dynamics in various contexts, such as economic and financial worlds, public health, engineering applications like transportation and smart grids.
