About

Development of an advanced rock constitutive model which can simulate static and dynamic response of rock under uniaxial and triaxial stress states is of utmost necessity for solving boundary value problems in rock. For this, rock response will be first studied experimentally through physical, petrographic and mechanical (static and dynamic) tests and the model equations will be prosed. The proposed research project will focus on developing an advanced rock constitutive model which can simulate static and dynamic response of rock under uniaxial and triaxial stress states, follow non associated flow behavior, can simulate both compressive and tensile damage and also the pressure volume response of rock. The constitutive model will be implemented in finite element software Abaqus using a modified Euler backward return algorithm in the form of user material subroutine UMAT or VUMAT. As an application of the developed model, one set of tunnel excavation analysis using finite element method will be performed.
