About
The project aims to create polymer blend nanocomposites with a shape memory effect, allowing for control of geometric and mechanical properties. The phase behavior of these nanocomposites will be investigated, with phase segregation playing a crucial role. A model for capturing the shape memory effect will be developed, and structure-property relationships will be determined theoretically and experimentally. The nanofillers will generate heat upon excitation under an alternating magnetic field or near infrared excitation, utilizing the hyperthermia effect of superparamagnetic nanoparticles and the photothermal effect from Copper sulfide nanoparticles. The nanocomposites will be optimized for concentration and spatial distribution, and under external stimulus, they will undergo shape memory effect. The shape memory effect will be used to explore conformational changes and mechanical properties due to phase segregation. The localized changes in shape and mechanical properties will be tested for potential biomedical applications, such as tissue regeneration and drug delivery.
