Project Overview
The modern healthcare sector requires natural product synthesis, combinatorial chemistry, and structure-guided drug discovery. Recently isolated secondary metabolites with potent algicidal activities require unique and efficient chemical synthesis methodologies. To streamline the process of ensuing promising therapeutic leads into clinical trials, a unified cascade approach has been proposed for the rapid and efficient total synthesis of newly isolated algaecidal secondary metabolites. This approach aims to resolve the complexity of these targets and provide the first total synthesis of all eight novel and architecturally unusual secondary metabolites in a short, efficient, and eco-friendly manner. The optimized total synthesis strategy could be expanded to the molecular vocabulary of secondary metabolites library by synthesizing novel designed analogues.
