About
Electro-organic synthesis has gained significant interest in recent years as a sustainable green process in organic synthesis. This method eliminates the use of toxic, oxidizing, and reducing reagents and reduces waste generation. The laboratory is actively working on developing new synthetic processes based on electro-organic synthesis, aiming to extend their applications in the total synthesis of natural products and pharmaceutically relevant compounds. The proposed methods involve developing efficient and novel domino synthetic methods using electrochemical processes, enabling the creation of carbo- or hetero-cyclic products through the construction of more than or equal to two chemical bonds. The strategies could be extended to the total synthesis of furostifoline and its analogues, including functionalized carbocycles and heterocycles. The proposed synthetic schemes are designed to work under mild reaction conditions with electricity as the sole oxidant or reductant.
